PTFE has exceptional chemical stability, exceeding noble metal (goal and platinum), glass, ceramic enamel, special steel and special alloy. It can resist to various strong acids, strong alkalis, oxidants and organic solvents even at high temperature. It also has excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties. Its mechanical properties are low compared to other engineering plastics, but it remains at useful levels over a great temperature range (-200 to 260 șC). As well as, it is well-known that it has a very low coefficient of friction.
